The Bath, North East Somerset and TPPL Minibus, Bus and Coach purchasing Framework Agreement has aided Liverpool City Region Combined Authority in the procurement of 20 new generation hydrogen buses.
Alexander Dennis Limited was selected following a competitive tendering process that was closely supported by TPPL. We provided robust procurement advice throughout the procurement and facilitated a straightforward compliant mechanism with which to go to market.
This forms part of Metro Mayor’s ‘Vision for Bus’, which commits to using the powers available through devolution to build a better, more reliable and affordable bus network for the City Region.
The 20 Enviro400FCEV buses are designed to be more energy efficient to cover greater distances between refuelling. The hydrogen buses will also have improved accessibility – with increased capacity for wheelchair users, and audio and visual announcements for next stops.
The Combined Authority has previously outlined hopes that it can increase its confirmed fleet of hydrogen fuel cell-electric buses to 40 through a bid to the Zero Emission Bus Regional Areas (ZEBRA) scheme.
